The Monthly Biblical Question!

In Numbers 14:17, what was Moses referring to when he said to God: “…just as You have spoken…”?

Numbers 14:17-19

And now, I pray, let the power of my Lord be great, just as You have spoken, saying, 'The LORD is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation.' Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the greatness of Your mercy, just as You have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

Answer & Reflection

Moses was referring to Exodus 34:5-7 where God proclaimed who He is. You can read more in our previous question: What did God proclaim in Exodus 34:5-7?

We have all witnessed the gentleness of God towards us! How many times has He forgiven us this week? How many times has He forgiven us this month? How many times has He forgiven us throughout our lives?

Romans 3:23

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

The good news is that because of the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, we have been redeemed, justified and forgiven of our sins! We are not perfect but every time we sin against God we come back in repentance to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.

Question for you

As we all now know what Moses was referring to in Numbers 14:17, our question for you this month is: Do you remember what God has proclaimed?
